I asked God for a morsel of bread, He gave me three whole loaves. I realized that wonderful answer to my prayer much, much later. So, those of you who are despairing if God even hears your prayers or if He will ever answer them? Wait. Wait patiently and faithfully.
After six years since the day I cried for the loss of my career, it just hit me that the Lord had multiplied the “bread” (blessing) for me and I was full.
17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. (Mat. 14:17-20)
I was on the bed talking to an elder sister in Christ over the phone. I was crying to her grieving over God’s answer to my earnest request: work a few hours in our office and assist them in the technical aspect of our business by writing and publishing our newsletter and at the same time, sharing the Gospel to our clients. But God had answered a resounding and painful “No!” and I was deeply saddened.
That was the “morsel of bread” that I had prayed for, because then, I had received partial healing and I was so eager to go back to work even for just a few hours each week. But I had to honor God for His will for me, albeit through copious tears.
Around that time, I absolutely didn’t know about blogging. The rare times that I was online was to read news briefs in Yahoo. That was towards the end of 2006. I came to know about blogging four years later, around fourth-quarter of 2010. Between that period of time, I gave birth to Tim, became ill again, recovered only partially, the great flood of 2009 came, prayed my agonizing prayer to be well and be worthy to be used for His purposes, then came the great trial of 2010 where I was so ill I was nigh unto death.
While I was recovering from the 2010 illness, I started to blog. I put up Minister of Mercy where I write about the testimonies of God’s wonders, miracles, and mighty deeds that He has wrought in Jesus Miracle Crusade International Ministry. Then, Our Healing Moments was birthed.
Around the middle of last year, my husband wanted me to improve the website of our company. I wasn’t too keen on taking up the job, but in submission to him, I said, “Okay.”
So I set up a new site with a new premium theme. There was a lot of work to be done. It took me months to finish. To make the company’s site active and up-to-date, I began to blog there as our company’s customer service. That is, after I had written and uploaded “tons” of technical data to feature our products. But before I could write anything, I also had to refresh myself with the myriad technical materials and studied the new products. It was in the middle of this studying and writing that I realized God had answered my earnest prayer.
I asked for a morsel of bread – writing in our company’s newsletter to assist in technical matters to promote our products and share the Gospel at the same time – but God gave me three whole loaves: Minister of Mercy, Our Healing Moments, and our company’s website!
This is how wondrous God works!
I honestly and totally believe that God is still in the business of multiplying loaves of bread and fish. This is His work: multiplying what available resources we have, that is, our willing selves, so that we are able to do what He has purposed us to do! And to be of slow understanding, just like the disciples had shown, would be our loss. It is our business to be completely believing in His works.
8 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? 9 Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? 10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? (Mat. 16:8-10)

40. Hannah sitting beside me, her arms tightly wound around sad and sulking me. Oh, that girl knows how to comfort her discouraged Mom!
